I cant upload my web site - It wont connect, what do I do now?

99% of calls to our support centre about upload connection problems are either firewall related or mistyped username/password combinations.

If ezimerchant Professional refuses to connect to our web server you should run through the following checklist before calling our support team. Believe it or not, if you run through this list completely you will more than likely fix the problem yourself.

  1. Ensure you are using the most up-to-date version of ezimerchant Professional.
     
  2. Visit the http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com website and download ALL critical/High Priority updates. This includes Service Pack 2 for Windows XP. Keeping Windows up-to-date is very important. You should visit this site at least once a month to check for new updates.
     
  3. Update to the latest version of your Antivirus software using the provided update systems.
     
  4. If you have Anti Spyware software installed, update it using the provided update systems.
     
  5. Check and DOUBLE check the FTP settings. Please see our upload FAQ.
     
  6. If you still cannot connect try disabling your firewall temporarily. Then try to upload again. (Note: The built in Windows XP firewall should not block ezimerchant Professional from uploading unless you specifically told it to.)
     
  7. If you still cannot upload, double check the username and password which your using by attempting to log in to the cPanel with the same username and password. To find out more about how to log in to the cPanel, please see our cPanel FAQ.
     
  8. If you can log into cPanel successfully but still cannot connect with ezimerchant Professional we recommend uninstalling your firewall software, then rebooting and then trying again to upload. If ezimerchant Professional uploads successfully after this then we have confirmed that your firewall software was blocking the connection. You should reinstall the firewall and then contact the support team for your firewall software to find out how to allow full access for ezimerchant Professional.

    Common firewall software packages include:

    ZoneAlarm
    Norton Internet Security
    Black Ice
